A topographic map is a type of map which displays physical landforms on the earth’s surface. This map is characterized by large-scale detail using a quantitative representation of relief. Contour lines are used in topographic maps showing both natural and man-made features. This image is a map of India and as you can see the great detail using contour lines to distinguish elevation. Since all maps are different this cartographer used color as a representation for its contour lines.
